No Fears - No Regrets

Started in Birmingham with 42 runners and with clear blue skies. I had a support crew for first 60 miles but then they had to depart and I was on my own. After a day of clear, hot blue skies, I was in first place at 100 km but then heavy thunderstorms produced sudden drop in temperatures, got soaked etc and jarred knee on lumpy ground... I walked through the night to retire at 100 mile check point in under 24 hours with a swollen lump on outside of right knee. Turned out that I needed orthotics and I had over stretched the ligament going to the big toe.. since having the physiotherapy and learning about bio mechanics I learnt how to prevent the injury from re-occurring.. learnt t keep leg muscles always warm.. cold means tight. Winner did 145 miles in 31 Hours and cut off for race is 48 hours. |
