Canyons 100 miles off Cape Cod
left at 9pm and drove out 100 miles to the canyons at 21 mph.
10 miles off the canyon, set up spreader bars... had 4 squid bars, a
flying bird at back and 2 trolling plugs.

after 40 miles trolling at 8 mph
in 10 seconds had 2 tuna hooked up. Steve and TUT faught the fish and I
gaffed them. Next rod was my turn. 3 hours later |

After 40 miles trolling at 8 mph in 10 seconds had 2 tuna
hooked up. Steve and TUT faught the fish and I gaffed them. Next rod was my
turn. 3 hours later saw weed on a bar so started jiggin line to free the
weed adn tuna hit but not hooked, jigged again and tuna hit releasing the
outrigger but not hooked up.
Dwain did a circle to pas thy again and we hooked up.. my
turn for a tuna. waited 30 secs in case more tuna hit.. adn as started
applying pressure to the rod a blue marlin jumped and tail walked right to
left behind the boat... then we realized, I was fighting a blue marlin.
was down to the spindle, almost spooled before could chase
fish and put line on reel.. then whilst cleaning the mess of tackle dragged
into the boat was down to the spindle second time... but now the captain was
able to focus on the boat and after 45 minutes and insane muscle fatigue,
the fish finally came close enough to grab the leader and then the bill of
the fish.
7.5 feet long, estimated 225 pounds..... removed hook and
released.
I took this video of the captain unhooking the fish after he
had grabbed the bill and working to unhook it.
Dwain said 22 years of being charter guide and personal
fishing like this trip, he had never managed to land a Blue Marlin. Hooked 3
and lost all 3, so this was a very rare incredible experience.. will never
forget the sight of the fish tail walking 200 yards behind the boat....!!!

Jigged up many large Pollock
(10-20 pound fish) in 20 feet water. kept fillets and used carcass as bait
for Blue sharks 9 Blue sharks.. biggest 11 foot 200+ pounds |
Jigs and shrimp for cod and
Pollock. Pollock were 20ft off bottom. continued to jig cod and pollock in
600ft water for bait as fish for sharks.

9 Cod 1 Red Snapper |
9 cod over-filled cooler. 2
hours to catch a fish, fist was 20 pound cod followed by small keeper.
After few more hours, found a small pod of fish, John brought up 49 inch
cod, 37 pounds. I then brought up a 39 pound cod. We caught another 35 pound
cod + a couple of 20 pounders, then cool box was full and wind picked up
causing drift too fast to fish. |
Jig Started with butterly jigs
and caught 1 red snapper.
Changed to 17 pounce norwegion jig and 17 ounce squid.. then we started
catching the big fish. |

Hard fishing as no drift and waves were less 1ft. 2 hours to caatch
first keeper, tried many spots then found ara with keepers. Very slow
fishing but we worked at it and managed to get 30 keepers by end day. Biggest keeper was 37inch. |
Large metal jig with teaser fly
18 inch in front of the jig. Changed from cod jig to using Shimano
butterfly jig.. made all the difference. |

Most were keeper or very close to
24" with larger 30"+ cod mixed in. kept 12 fish fish larger than 30

Biggest keeper was 36inch. |
